Councillor Kate Hollern

Kate HollernKate is leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council having been a councillor in the borough for over 16 years. She is responsible for providing community leadership for the council, working with residents and organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector in order to improve the quality of life and satisfaction in the borough. As lead political spokesperson, Kate chairs the Executive Board – the main decision making group of the council – and also represents the council in communications with Government.

Kate is Chair of PLACE (Pennine Lancashire), working with district leaders to tackle shared challenges and enhance opportunities for the area to thrive. She is committed to sub-regional and regional working and recognises their importance in being able to make a difference at a community level. Kate represents Lancashire on the North West Regional Leaders Board. Meanwhile she works in Blackburn College’s training department as Skills Funding Agency and Job Centre Plus Contracts Manager.
