    Work started in May 2014 to improve the A582 in South Ribble, one of the main routes into Preston. The aim is to upgrade the road to a dual carriageway along its full length between Cuerden and Preston city centre, including the B5253 spur south to Longmeanygate.

    Work is underway to find a suitable tenant for the former government buildings site at the corner of Cop Lane which could achieve an additional £2m of economic activity for the area.

    Lancashire Central

    Lancashire Central is a major new strategic employment site at Cuerden, South Ribble, near Preston  – a vibrant high quality development that will deliver the economic transformation of the area. At 65  hectares it will deliver 200,000 sq m of commercial floorspace, including  80,000 sq m of new industrial space and 26,000 sq m of new office and business space, providing more than 4,500 jobs. Planning consent is in  place and infrastructure works have  commenced.

    James Towers Way will greatly reduce traffic in the centre of Broughton and improve journey times for motorists by creating a new route from the Broughton roundabout at Junction 1 of the M55 to the A6 north of the village.

    Detailed proposals to improve the centre of Broughton village have been agreed. Now that the new road has opened, work can begin on the improvements along the A6 through Broughton village.
