There will be so much activity taking place over the next few years across the area and it will affect different communities in various ways. To make it easier we have split it down into zones so you can find out what is happening near you.
Work started in May 2014 to improve the A582 in South Ribble, one of the main routes into Preston. The aim is to upgrade the road to a dual carriageway along its full length between Cuerden and Preston city centre, including the B5253 spur south to Longmeanygate.
Penwortham and Lostock Hall Roads
The Leyland - Lostock Hall - Tardy Gate - Lower Penwortham Corridor has been identified as a priority corridor for improvements to public transport, cycling and walking.
Penwortham and Lostock Hall Access and Public Space
Lancashire Central is a major new strategic employment site at Cuerden, South Ribble, near Preston – a vibrant high quality development that will deliver the economic transformation of the area. At 65 hectares it will deliver 200,000 sq m of commercial floorspace, including 80,000 sq m of new industrial space and 26,000 sq m of new office and business space, providing more than 4,500 jobs. Planning consent is in place and infrastructure works have commenced.
Leyland and Cuerden Employment Sites
Worden Park in Leyland has seen improvements including a new entrance, parking and community facilities.
Leyland and Cuerden Access and Public Space
Work is ongoing to build new homes and communities in different sites in Leyland and Cuerden; Wheelton Lane, Land South of Centurian Way and the Former Prestolite site.

This spine road will connect the new housing development with the tank roundabout on the A582.
